Kadınlar Birlikte Güçlü (Women Are Strong Together) protested on Istiklal Avenue after three girls and three women workers were killed in a fire at the Ravive Cosmetics perfume filling plant in Dilovası, Kocaeli.

“This was no accident, no act of God. Women and girls died because greedy factory owners and public officials who ignored complaints filed through the Presidency’s Communication Center (CİMER) worked hand in hand. We don’t want to stop this cycle; we want to break it.”

In the explosion that killed three girls and three women workers at the Ravive Cosmetics plant, shift supervisor Tuncay Yıldız was seriously injured but escaped. He later died in the hospital, bringing the death toll to seven.
Four university students arrested for protesting the incident have been released.

Azerbaijani activist Nanaxanım Babazade (Nana), detained at her workplace and missing for days, was transferred to the Çatalca Deportation Center. The Istanbul University anthropology student, held since August 21 and subjected to weeks of mistreatment, was deported about three weeks ago. Nana later told journalist Yusuf Çelik that she had safely left Azerbaijan.

On a flight back from Baku, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan again targeted LGBTQ+ people in response to a question about the Year of the Family:
“Just as we strengthen our defense industry and cybersecurity, we must protect our families from new-generation attacks. The Year of the Family aims to safeguard the family’s role in Turkey. To this end, we will never allow perversions such as LGBT. A strong family institution strengthens society, and we will take even firmer steps toward the future.”

University student Melisa Şengül was found dead at a friend’s house in Aydın, the third suspicious female death in the city this year.
Melisa Aydındalp, known for her activism on women’s and LGBT+ rights, recently protested the 11th Judicial Package, which targets these groups. Banners read “No passage for the 11th Judicial Package” and “It is not women who corrupt society’s morals, but your patriarchal system.”
She said: “The hatred and discrimination presented as the ‘11th Judicial Package’ will never intimidate us. This package aims to make women’s and LGBT+ lives unbearable. You want to criminalize sexual orientation. These criminal references should target perpetrators of crimes against women and children, not those who want to live freely.”
